tippy-toe by tippy-toe, strides navigate a long due acceptance of my slow pace while simultaneously unveiling the gentle truth of my romanticized view on the shoes of my middle school dream shoes: Heelys

in the early 2000s, nothing seemed cooler than the glide of these wheeled sneakers that eventually translated to a desire of belonging. but steps parallel to the ground creating never-ending scraped palms, bruises, and an abundance of hesitation marked these wheels as a desire to move as easily and confidently as everyone around me.

new pairs of prom Heelys and paint roller Heelys are used from the dynamics of uneasy acceptances and the afternoon-like ambiguity of wheels held in the midair, as my gradual path through liberation, tippy-toe by tippy-toe.
